In my travels of finding the 'bad stuff' I also find a lot of 'healthy stuff'. So as I find I will share. Remember, all things react differently with different people, so make sure it is ok for you before you start to use any of the healthy stuff listed here. I'm not an expert, I just find these things work for me.
Sugar is another thing that we consume too much of and too much of a good thing is no good for our body. Tragically people started to use artificial sweeteners as they thought this the better option and also helped curb weight gain. Unfortunately artificial sweeteners are so so bad for us. They can cause seizures, headaches, memory loss, nausea, vision problems, change in heart rate, sleeping problems, rash, hives, joint pain plus a whole lot more. Read the name 'artificial' sweetener. How can artificial be good for us?
So what can you use as an alternative?
I am trying Coconut Sugar. Apparently coconut sugar does not put stress on your blood sugar levels the same way that white sugar does. Coconut sugar is produced from the sap of the cut flower buds of the coconut palm. Because coconut sugar is unrefined, it retains all of its natural minerals and vitamins. It can be used in coffee, tea, baking and cooking.
It is not as sweet as white sugar but I am adapting to the taste. Again, everything in moderation. So for me it is just replacing the sugar in my tea with coconut sugar. I am also looking at some recipes using coconut sugar but I haven't mastered that yet!
You can buy coconut sugar from your health food shop and also through online stores that sell coconut products.
